Free · Step 1

Find the threads where people vent

Each link opens a Google search scoped to Reddit and biased toward complaint language — the threads Reddit’s own search tends to miss.

Example output

One thread, thirty seconds, the complaints that matter.

Pain points

  1. highReading 300 comments takes an afternoon

Several people say the real insight is buried deep in reply chains, so skimming the top comments misses it.

“the best insight is always 40 replies deep in some argument about pricing”

  2. highLosing saved research when tools shut down

Former GummySearch users worry about losing the threads and quotes they collected.

“GummySearch made it easy to save the good threads”

  3. mediumCopy-pasting threads breaks the structure

People who paste threads into AI tools say the text arrives as a mess.

“Copy-paste from Reddit is a mess”

What people ask for

  • A way to pull a whole thread into a spreadsheet
  • Summaries that come with real quotes

Alternatives mentioned

  • positiveF5Bot

    “F5Bot for keyword alerts (free)”

  • mixedPainOnSocial / RedShip

“Paid tools exist … but for one niche I’d rather read the threads myself”

How to find pain points on Reddit

  1. Find the threads. Use the searches above, or Google site:reddit.com "your category" frustrating. Google ranks the threads people engaged with; Reddit’s search often doesn’t.
  2. Open the three to five biggest threads and extract each one with the extension. Replies stay nested and collapsed branches are expanded, so the arguments deep in the thread are included.
  3. Click Find pain points. You get complaints ranked by severity, requests, and competitor mentions, each with a quote you can verify.
  4. Look for repetition. A complaint that shows up across several threads is a market; one that shows up once is an anecdote. Pro saves every thread and shows the phrases that repeat across them.
  5. Use the exact words. The quotes are your landing-page headlines, ad hooks, and interview questions. Switch to Hooks mode to turn them into angles and objections for your product.

Why Reddit is the best source of pain points

People on Reddit describe problems to each other, not to a researcher. Nobody is being polite to a founder on a call, nobody is choosing from your survey’s answer options. They name the products they tried, say what it cost them, and argue about it — which is exactly the information that’s hardest to get any other way.

Questions

Finding pain points, answered.

What is a Reddit pain point finder?

A tool that reads Reddit discussions and pulls out the problems people describe — what frustrates them, what they wish existed, and which products they’ve tried. Reddit Comment Exporter does this on any thread you open: it extracts every comment, then AI ranks the complaints by severity and backs each one with a direct quote.

How do I find pain points on Reddit?

Start with Google, not Reddit search: site:reddit.com "your category" frustrating surfaces the threads people actually engaged with (the finder above builds these searches for you). Open the three to five biggest threads, extract them, and look for complaints that repeat across threads. Repetition is the signal; one angry comment is not.

Is the pain point finder free?

The thread finder on this page and the extension’s exports are free. The AI pain point analysis is part of Pro ($19/mo, or $15/mo billed yearly), which includes 100 AI analyses a month.

How accurate is it?

The AI only sees the thread’s real comments and must attach a verbatim quote to every pain point, request, and competitor mention, so you can check each one against what was actually said. It’s told to return fewer, well-grounded pain points rather than pad the list.

Does it scan all of Reddit?

No. It analyzes the threads you open, one at a time, and Pro keeps a library of the threads you save so you can spot patterns across them. Tools like Syften or F5Bot watch keywords across Reddit; pair one with this if you need alerts.

Does it depend on Reddit’s API?

No. The extension reads the thread your browser already loaded, so Reddit’s public API closure in March 2027 doesn’t switch it off. More in our API shutdown explainer.
