Reddit thread to text, ready to paste.

Turn a Reddit thread into a clean transcript — the post, then every comment with replies indented — for ChatGPT, Claude, Notion, or a research doc.

  • Plain text or Markdown, one click to copy
  • Reply structure kept through indentation
  • Free for the first 100 comments

Free for the first 100 comments of any public thread. No account needed.

What the transcript looks like

Best ergonomic keyboards under $200?
r/MechanicalKeyboards · posted by u/ergo_seeker · https://www.reddit.com/r/…

u/alice (42 points)
I love my Glove80, totally worth the price.

    u/bob (18 points)
Have you tried the Moonlander? Tenting is fantastic.

        u/carol (7 points)
Moonlander tenting is solid but the thumb cluster takes a week.

Each reply is indented under the comment it answers, so the back-and-forth survives when you paste it somewhere else.

Summarizing a Reddit thread with ChatGPT or Claude

Copying a thread straight out of the browser grabs vote buttons, “Reply · Share · Award” labels, and collapsed branches — noise that wastes tokens and confuses the model. A clean transcript avoids all of that. Prompts that work well on a converted thread:

  • “List the five most common complaints, with a direct quote for each.”
  • “Which products are recommended, and what reasons do people give?”
  • “Group the comments by the question they’re answering.”
  • “What do people who disagree with the top comment say?”

Asking for quotes keeps the summary grounded in what people actually wrote. For a deeper look at turning threads into research, see the Reddit market research guide.

Need the whole thread?

The free tool stops at 100 comments. The Reddit Comment Exporter extension converts the thread you have open — including every collapsed “more replies” branch — and copies it in plain, structured, or Markdown form. Free covers 100 comments per thread; Plus has no cap.

Questions

Reddit to text, answered.

How do I convert a Reddit thread to text?

Paste the thread link above, press “Get comments”, then choose “Plain text” to download a .txt file or “Copy text” to put it on your clipboard. The transcript starts with the post title and body, then lists up to 100 comments with replies indented under their parents.

What’s the best format for ChatGPT or Claude?

Markdown or plain text. Both keep who-replied-to-whom through indentation, which helps a model tell an objection from the reply that answers it. A 100-comment thread is usually 5,000–15,000 words, which fits comfortably in current model context windows.

Can I keep the reply structure?

Yes. Plain text indents each reply four spaces per level; Markdown uses nested bullets. If you need the exact tree for code, download JSON instead — each comment has a replies array.

Is there a limit?

The free tool returns the first 100 comments of a thread and allows 10 threads a day. For full threads, the Chrome extension exports the thread you’re reading, and Plus removes the per-thread cap.

Does it include deleted comments?

Deleted and removed comments appear as “[deleted]” or “[removed]”, the same way Reddit shows them, so replies under them keep their place in the thread.
