Reddit is your panel. Use it like one.

The good news about your customers in 2026: they’re already writing 800-word replies about their problems on Reddit, for free, in the open, with vote scores attached. The bad news: the default Reddit UI is built for scrolling, not for synthesis. This is the gap a Reddit market research tool fills.

The classic move in B2B research is to run a survey. The classic survey is wrong half the time, because people answer the question you asked, not the question they care about. Reddit threads are the opposite: people answer the question they care about, at length, with the upvote signal telling you which framings landed. The work is in collecting it.

What Reddit market research actually answers

What words do your customers use when they describe the problem to each other? Not to you in a sales call, not to a survey question — to each other, in a thread. Extract the most-engaged threads in your category subreddit and the voice-of-customer phrasing is right there in the top phrases. The Insights tab surfaces them automatically; the export gives you the raw material.

Finding pain points

Search the subreddit for “I wish,” “why is there no,” “I keep,” “stop trying.” Extract the threads. Sort by score. The top-voted pain-point comments are the ones the community agreed with. That’s your roadmap shortlist — pulled from real users, not from your interpretation of a sales call.

Competitor analysis

Pull threads where your competitor’s name appears. Read the actual replies, with depth. What do people praise? What do they switch away from? What do they describe as “almost good enough but…”? The “almost good enough but” comments are the most valuable competitive intel you can get without paying for it.

Content ideas and SEO topics

Survey design

Before you run an actual survey, read the Reddit threads. The phrasing of the open-ended pain-point replies tells you what answer options to write into your multiple-choice. You stop discovering what people care about in the survey — you start measuring what they care about using the survey.

The market-research workflow that works

  1. Pick three category subreddits where your customer hangs out. Not r/all. Specific.
  2. Sort by “top of year” and pull the five highest-engagement threads in each. Fifteen threads total.

A note on ethics

Reddit is public, but “public” isn’t the same as “consented to be a research subject.” Treat the data the way you’d treat a focus-group transcript: the insight is yours to use; the exact phrasing belongs to the person who wrote it. Paraphrase before you ship verbatim quotes externally. Don’t attribute by username unless the user is operating as a public figure on the platform.
